HERMES 90cm SILK SCARF - THE THREE GRACES
by ALICE SHIRLEY

I didn't 'get' Alice Shirley designs when they first began appearing in boutiques. Appaloosa des Steppes was the first of her carres I added, and I didn't wear it for three years. Go figure. As I started seeing the beauty of her work, I found this 2020 design and thought 'brights! busy! Totally in my wheelhouse!' And still it took several attempts before the angels sang. Now this is one of my absolute favorites. I've decided that sometimes a scarf needs time to 'rise' like a good dough and I regret re-homing many designs that just didn't click when I first threw it around my neck.

From Hermes' The Story Behind:

It was during a trip to South Africa that Alice Shirley was lucky enough to spot a giraffe, then two, then three, concealed behind the acacia tree on whi ch they were feeding. Giraffes are the tallest animals on earth and their delicacy is immeasurable. Their movement is sweeping and elegant. They have panoramic distance vision and sleep very little, often standing. They prune the trees by feeding, and disperse seeds by moving around, living in perfect harmony with their environment. Conscious of the beauty and balance of nature, the house of Hermes pays homage to these graceful and poetic giants.
