Dimitri Rybaltchenko
Dimitri Rybaltchenko is the son of Vladimir Rybaltchenko, who was the great-nephew of Philippe Ledoux. All have been prolific scarf artists for Hermes. While the older Rybaltchenko ("Rybal") and Ledoux are known for classic illustrations of realism, the younger Rybaltchenko has evolved over the years to a more modern, graphic flair.
Dimitri's scarf designs began appearing in boutiques in the mid-1990s. He's created close to 50 pieces through this current season. Two of my oldest scarves (Vif Argent and Cheval de Caractere, both in black and white and both from 2007) are Dimitri designs, and have a permanent place in YOSD.
Bonus: the artist has a cocker spaniel! Misty is shown in Sur Mon Nuage chasing a ballie - a spaniel after my Maple's own heart! I love following Misty's dad's Instagram account.
