HERMES SILK TWILLY - SPACE DERBY BY UGO BIENVENU

Ugo Bienvenu had an international upbringing, the son of a graphic artist and a diplomat. His unique perspective began showing in his music video anime work, which caught the eye of maison Hermes which commissioned him to produce animated shorts for social media. From there he has created several carre designs, the hallmark of which is his space horses.

His iconic "Space Derby" was adapted to the twilly format in 2022. From the Hermes website:

Here we are launched into space for a breathtaking derby among the stars! Mysterious planets and constellations light up a track on which six jockeys race at top speed. The artist Ugo Bienvenu drew inspiration from mid-twentieth-century American comics and their superheroes for these cosmic teams of horses steered by daring drivers. Every detail contributes to the futuristic and colorful atmosphere of this thrilling race, from the curves of the chariots to the combination of the horses.

​This design always reminded me of the chariot race from Ben-Hur. 

This twilly is colorway 05 (marine, rose, multicolor). A deep almost-black navy blue, with pink, green, yellow, peach and white.
