Catherine Baschet was inspired by Persian pencil boxes which were status symbols in the 1700s and 1800s. A 'qalamdan' is designed in great detail and her 1990 scarf captures the intricacy.

This black colorway is perfect for highlighting the bright greens, pinks, oranges, yellows and purples of the boxes. A closer look reveals flowers, horse riders, and birds. It almost glows like stained glass.

There are a couple of small/faint marks as shown in the final photo.
