Mousselines
Mousseline, muslin, chiffon... light as air but not confined to hot summer months. A moussie can add a lot of elegance to a winter sweater, a formal dress, a simple sheath or tank - especially the shimmery changeants.
Hermes makes mousselines in the GM size (grand modele, 54" square or 140cm square) with the famous forward-rolled hems. The PM size (same as a carre, 35" or 90cm square) and the pochette (16" or 42cm square) were discontinued some years ago though in 2021 they've made a small reappearance. The etole (stole, an oblong) has also been sighted in boutiques only sporadically.
Once upon a time I had quite an assortment of PMs, GMs, and etoles. I'm semi-retired from corporate America now and no longer have such an extensive collection. I'm re-homing just about all of my mousselines, which is an opportunity for you to add these to your own collection!

Early America, Francoise de la PerriereOnce upon a time, Hermes created pochettes from mousseline. The Early America design was first introduced in 1970. The Francoise de la Perriere creation features George and Martha Washington in the center; this 1979 edition replaced a squirrel from the original design. Peacocks, bears and horses, as well as giant dogs ridden by children, are an odd combination that encircle the Washingtons.
