HERMES 90cm SILK SCARF - L'IVRESSE DE L'INFINI
by ZOE PAUWELS
It's pink, it's bright, it's busy - what's there not to love about this scarf? A dear friend coined the term "CCP: colorway correction program" - and this delightful pink beauty is the result of a CCP. My first L'Ivresse *should* have been perfect: steel blue and coral red. But as with so many colors there are, ahem, infinite variations of colors and not all steel blues are created equal. And so that lovely scarf found a lovely new home, and I set about finding the design in a color that agreed with me. Et voila!
TBH I wouldn't mind additional colorways of this scarf. Just as I once had just about every colorway of Reve d'Australie, this Zoe Pauwels work deserves multiple entries in YOSD.
From the Hermes Story Behind:
Passionate about physics and mathematics, Zoe Pauwels invites us to join an "infinite voyage: the creation of all matter". The sources of inspiration of this exuberant composition have names such as quarks and anti-quarks, photons and neutrons. Physics and mathematics are bearers of a poetry so elating that scientific minds concur in describing it as aesthetic. Likewise, the patterns that they generate: pure translations of thought, or representations of the unseeable phenomena on which all life depends. Is the double helix of DNA not an image of perfection itself? There's no magic, no miracle, just simple reality, rich and astounding.
