HERMES 90CM SILK JACQUARD SCARF - EMBLEMES DE L'EUROPE BY CATY LATHAM
For nearly 50 years, Caty Latham has designed exquisite and delicate scarves for Hermes. From Vendages in 1966 to 2011's Pois de Soie she has created more than 50 silk beauties including the classic Les Clefs.
Smack dab in the middle of her scarf career is Emblemes de l'Europe. This first came out in 1993 in celebration of the formation of the EU. The four corners represent Germany, France, Great Britain and Italy with the remaining European Union countries represented in the wreath. Aside from a meaningful theme and a beautiful colorway, what makes this scarf special is the jacquard weave. Not only are stars inked onto the silk, stars are woven into the silk, adding a dimensional effect. This is a 35"/90cm square silk twill scarf/carre. Its primary colors are navy blue, royal blue, and sky blue, with a golden yellow wreath. It's missing its caretag and has a crease mark from where the scarf was folded and stored, but otherwise in delightful pre-loved condition.
