HERMES 90cm SILK SCARF - COSTUME DE FETE

From the Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Jan Bajtlik's Costumes de Fete is part of an evolution of his Hermes design work for women's scarves. His first scarves were hyper-detailed worlds of fantasy (Cosmographia Universalis, Exposition Universelle, Animapolis), with dozens of whimsical mini-vignettes that reveal even more details. More recent works are fantastical interpretations of real-life objects (like Selle Imaginaire) and thank heavens they still include Kluska!
In this instance, the inspiration is traditional Polish wedding clothes. From the Hermes website, The Story Behind:
It's a day of celebration in Krakow. "Pan i Pani" (the bride and groom) have dressed in their finest clothes, and everything is ready for the wedding. Perhaps you are already staring wide-eyed, with the feeling that you've been magically transported into a wonderland. No, no, everything is real: the beads, the coral, the gold and silver sequins, the fringes, the motifs, the flowers, and every detail of the bodice and the border are inspired by Polish folklore, meticulously reproduced by Jan Bajtlik.
