HERMES 45cm SILK SCARF - PEINTURE FRAICHE
by DIMITRI RYBALTCHENKO
This Dimitri Rybaltchenko design was originally issued in a 90cm carre in 2012. I love the design and had sought out the dark blue version, but when I found it it just didn't tie well on me. I think not enough different colors? Anyhow, ten years later it was re-issued in a 45cm gav with the addition of a fabulous striped hem. I was besotted, but once again I couldn't find one that sang to me. Somehow this became some kind of consolation purchase because I do love the art and refused to admit defeat twice. It kind of comes in handy when I can't find a good color for whatever outfit I'm wearing, and I can weave it through a pendant bale and it sort of serves as a silver necklace chain.
None of these are compelling reasons for purchase or retention, but I can't bring myself to part with it. Yet.
From the Hermes Story Behind:
As if thrown on the surface of the carre, the paint spreads freely, taking the time to compose runs and stains, the reflections inventing shadows and nuances. In the center to better seal the union of the color and the carre, the ex-libris of the house: the "harnessed duke and his waiting groom" surmounting the H of Hermes, framed by two caduceus, symbols in the Greek mythology of the homonymous god. His features, always, are those of a young man... Be careful with fresh paint!
