HERMES 90cm SILK SCARF - PANTIN CITY
by MAMADOU CISSE
Normally I gravitate more to swirly designs, but the riot of colors, the contrast hem, and the metallic ink sucked me in to Pantin City. The stiff silk sealed the deal! (Side note: I am NOT a fan of wash scarves - too slippery and floppy.)
At the time I thought it would go with everything in my closet. News flash: it really doesn't. I've got a ton of brights in my wardrobe but it's all a bit too much with this scarf. It took me 6 attempts before I found something that really clicked. And it reallllly clicked! Dunno if fabrics are getting in the way of what *should* be magic. Hmmm.
From the Hermes Story Behind:
In this design, Mamadou Cisse presents a vibrant, futuristic vision of Pantin. After leaving Senegal for France at the age of 18, this self-taught artist took several paths before he started to draw, sketching out his first pieces in ballpoint pen during night shifts in his job as a security guard. Seen from above, this utopian architectural landscape gives a sense of the town’s creative effervescence. Its colorful geometric scene seems to come to life before your very eyes.
