HERMES 90CM SILK SCARF - METAMORPHOSES by PHILIPPE DUMAS
Much like his "Fairytales" design, Philippe Dumas' 2014 creation is far from traditional, and disturbing to some: people's faces morph into animals which morph back into human faces. But it ties like a dream - please look at the two knots I've included here.
From the Hermes Story Behind: Artist and writer Philippe Dumas, a member of the Hermès family, has created a poetic and enigmatic scarf, incorporating numerous motifs from other Hermès scarves. "Metamorphoses" evokes transformation, impermanence, and the links between the real world and the imaginary. Each corner of the scarf offers a new interpretation, a silhouette that transforms, a detail that escapes from another Hermès scarf. This rare work stands out for its graphic strength, its symbolic depth, and its dreamlike aesthetic. Visually captivating. The background is a creamy off-white (I'm unsure if this was stark white 11 years ago), with a red contrast hem. The design itself is a riot of colors, with almost a watercolor feel which adds to the sense of changes. Caretag is attached on only one side. RE-HOMED Yes, I'm interested! |
