HERMES 90cm SILK SCARF - LANTERNES, BALLONS ET COCARDES
by KATIE SCOTT
Sometimes a scarf and/or a colorway comes along that I immediately dismiss. When a friend says 'oh, while you're at the boutique can you look for...' I'm all 'whatevs sure'. When I walked into the boutique and inquired about this I was so stunned when the magic drawer opened and I saw this. Literally, I gasped (not quite as loud we when I gasped at Hugh Jackman's back in the first X-Men movie 25 years ago, but close).
The colors are similar to my Exposition Universelle and I just might have to try tying them together (when it's not 100 degrees in the shade). And while I don't see Noah's Ark I do see fun animals: giraffe, parrots, zebra, fish, monkey, toger, toucans, and penguins. Fun fact: I pet a penguin in Cincinnati. Fun fact: I had dinner with a penguin in Fort Worth. Most fun fact: a friend fell into the penguin enclosure at a zoo when he was in high school (his sunglasses fell off his face and he lost his balance trying to reach for them) and now has a paralyzing fear of penguins.
From the Hermes Story Behind:
Imagine the cacophony that must have reigned on Noah’s Ark, between the roars of the lion, the braying of the zebra, the honking on the penguin and the grunts of the giraffe. In Katie Scott’s version the animals are less agitated, and a little more ostentatious. Give them some light and they flaunt their silhouettes like glowing lanterns, some round, some oval, cylindrical or diamond-shaped, according to their mood… the shape doesn’t matter, as long as it’s flat! Their profusion of multicolored geometrical shapes makes a dazzling spectacle.
