HERMES 70cm SILK SCARF - JOUR DE CASTING
by LIZ STIRLING
Resistance is futile. It's dogs. Including a spaniel.
According to the artist's Insta page, these are Hermes employees' pups. Rumba looks like the subject of or inspiration behind Carine Brancowitz's Rendez-Vous Chez Hermes but of course Rolls the spaniel is my favorite auditioning pooch.
The artist certainly has a soft spot for dogs, working with La Parade where she is quoted:
“What memory do we have of the dogs that accompanied us? What place do their name occupy in our memory?
I think of the dogs of our childhood, whose names we use for the security question number two, the adorable and annoying dogs of friends. And most importantly, dogs, like us humans, live on in our memories after their death.
In memory of Nelson, Mutley, Rastas and Ringo.” (Note that Mutley makes an appearance on Taco's collar)
From the Hermes Story Behind:
Groomed and dolled up, the dogs are dressed to the nines. It's casting day, and of course Liz Stirling couldn't resist sketching their portraits. Rumba, Amy, Naya, Cixi, Rolls, Taco and Orson have all worn their best necklaces, clipped on their precious medallions and brought out their best leashes... some have even dared to wear sunglasses, hoping to catch the top dog's eye. Smile (and bark) for the camera!
