HERMES 45cm SILK SCARF - JARDINS DE SOIE
by CHRISTINE HENRY
I love a little gav, especially a busy one. Thank heavens Christine Henry's 2019 masterpiece appeared in this format (it's also issued as a 140cm cashmere shawl). It's a little delight by itself, and pairs wonderfully with her other design, Au Pays des Oiseaux Fleurs, that's in Ye Olde Scarf Drawer. It's a challenge to capture well in a photo - the background is white and a greenish gray (grayish green?) with a raspberry border.
From the Hermes Story Behind:
To design this scarf, Christine Henry immersed herself in the precious collections of the Musée des Tissus et des Arts Décoratifs in Lyon. Medieval tapestries, antique tunics and extremely rare screens have inspired this silk garden with its sumptuous bestiary. Byzantine animals, Chinese shrubs, Russian griffins and Indian foliage intertwine, celebrating the artistic exchange between East and West. Exchanges that have always encouraged textile designers to surpass themselves and demonstrate their inventiveness.
