HERMES 65cm CASHMERE SCARF - GRRRRR! BANDANA
by ALICE SHIRLEY
By the time I fell in love with Awooooo! and discovered it was part of a series, Grrrrr! was gone from boutiques and I couldn't find one on resale. So I 'settled' for the limited edition wash silk version (Yellowstone Forever), also from the mens collection. It's become one of my favorites!
Still, the original 100cm cashmere bear eludes me. And while I continue perusing the secondary market for an affordable pre-loved bear with minimal imperfections, Hermes released bandana versions of Grrrrr! and Awooooo! in 65cm mens cashmere. In typical Hermes fashion, the mens colorists weren't terribly imaginative: black, blue, grey, brown. Yawn. The only vaguely intriguing color was matcha - a brownish green. So there you go, and here it is. The second I find an original bear, this one shall move to the re-home pile.
I'm still wrestling with the bandana wolf: it comes in blue, the only color in the original issue I'm missing, but it's just not the same.
So if anyone has a line on the original cashmere versions of Grrrrr! (red!) or Awooooo! (blue) hit me up and make my wallet vibrate.
From the Hermes Story Behind:
The bear in Alice Shirley's menagerie is clearly a little intrusive. It pops up whenever you least expect it, and has now made its home in this new bandana version. Its coat merges with the scarf's sky, where hundreds of tiny stars shine brightly. A truly unique design with a tone-on-tone camouflage effect.
