HERMES 140cm CHANGEANT SILK MOUSSELINE SCARF - BRISE DE CHARME
by JULIA ABADIE
Sometimes the theme or subject of a scarf is what makes me pull the trigger. Sometimes it’s the color I find irresistible. In this case, it was the format that had my clicking ‘buy now’. It wasn’t the size – at 140cm even a mousseline can be oppressively heavy. It wasn’t the material – I struggle with knotting moussies well. It was the shimmery changeant weave.
I have several friends who have changeants that are absolutely magical. I’ve had several pass through Ye Olde Scarf Drawer, their residence only temporary because I just couldn’t find a way to pull the magic out. This fan-themed brown scarf would normally leave me cold but I just wanted to try a changeant one last time before absolutely giving up on them. This doesn’t have a strong shimmer to it, and it’s not really my colors, but it makes a few outfits feel special.
From the Hermes Story Behind:
We are told that there is a global warming effect and that this is why the winds are growing stronger. As the gales hit us again, what could be more charming than to recall more leisurely times when ladies would feel the need to deploy their fans to create a gentle draught? Here, in a range of five colour combinations, is a selection of fans drawn from the Duvelleroy, Carnavalet Museum and other collections.
