HERMES 90cm DOUBLE FACE SILK SCARF - BRANDEBOURGS FLEURI
by CATY LATHAM/JEFF FISHER
If you've spent any time reading this site, or even perusing the photos, you have figured out I don't do classic designs. Brandebourg, especially with the bee jacquard, is one of those designs it seems all collectors have. Not me. I was even immune to the siren song of the 2023 double face... for awhile. Seeing a few mod shots eroded my dislike, and finding a good price on the secondary market was the tipping point. This scarf is so freaking beautiful - I love it!
From Hermes' The Story Behind:
Worn in days of old by the guides of Napoleon III's imperial guard, this fitted ceremonial jacket has been completely transformed! This double face scarf blends the original 1972 Brandebourg design by Caty Latham, inspired by an album from the Emile Hermes collection, with flowers by Australian illustrator Jeff Fisher. On the front, brandenburgs snake their way between the metal buttons to form a hypnotic network of cords and braids. While on the reverse, the jacket blends into the background, camouflaged among the water lilies like a colorful and hypnotic wallpaper.
